Future Seahawks Hall of Famers…

ESPN put up a pretty good article detailing 50 current players who they think might wind up in the NFL Hall of Fame:

Who’s ticketed for Canton?

Among the current and former Seattle Seahawks listed are Steve Hutchinson, Walter Jones, Shaun Alexander, and Lofa Tatupu.  I think that Jones is an absolute lock, and probably a first ballot inductee.  Alexander will probably make it also, especially if he can put together a couple more terrific seasons, though he may not go on the first ballot.  I suppose Hutchinson is a likely inductee if he continues his career at a high level, but it remains to be seen if he can do that since his move to Minnesota.  As for Tatupu, that was ESPN’s attempt to find very young players who seem likely to have great careers, so that’s just a prognostication.  It is far too early to tell if Tat will really be a great one or not, but the early indications are promising, and it’s certainly possible for him to have a Hall of Fame-type career if he keeps improving and proves to have longevity.  On the other hand, he fell off a bit from his first season, and hasn’t actually shown “greatness” to this point.  It’s something that would have to develop, but as prognostications go, it’s not a bad guess.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer also has a nice article today on Walter Jones’ prospects for the Hall of Fame:

Is Hall of Fame bust in Walter Jones’ future?

    Kennedy and Jones…nuff said.

Alexander has a shot if he manages to put up 3 or more 1200+ yard seasons.

The rest of the guys…who knows.

Of course, I should also have mentioned Mike Holmgren, who I think is a lock for the HOF.
